Hearthstone 36.6 free rewards and Legendary Quest guide - CODSKINS

Hearthstone 36.6 Free Rewards: Quest Chain & Event Guide

Hearthstone’s 36.6 patch notes received a fresh update on 29 September 2026, adding a new Legendary Quest Chain with two free card packs. The update sits alongside several other active reward opportunities, including a free login Legendary, weekly Battle.net gifts, the Black Market reward shop and October’s War of Old & New event.

With several overlapping deadlines and both free and paid offers in the same patch, this guide separates exactly what players can earn without buying a bundle from the optional purchases and random-pull cosmetics.

New Hearthstone Legendary Quest Chain rewards

The newly added Legendary Quest Chain runs from 29 September until 20 October 2026. Blizzard says players progress by playing Ranked Hearthstone games.

The confirmed rewards are:

  • Step 1: one Escape from Violet Hold card pack
  • Step 2: one Reign of the Black Empire card pack

Blizzard’s notes do not list a purchase requirement for this chain. It is an in-game quest reward, so eligible players should find it in Hearthstone after updating and signing into the correct Battle.net account. Complete both stages before 20 October rather than assuming the quests will remain after the next expansion launches.

Claim the M.O.T.H.E.R. Legendary card for free

Players can also log in to receive the M.O.T.H.E.R. Legendary card free, limited to one copy per account. Blizzard says the distribution method will change after Patch 37.6: instead of being granted simply for logging in, M.O.T.H.E.R. will then be awarded when the account owns a Reign of the Black Empire pack.

That makes logging in during the current patch the simplest route. The reward is tied to the Hearthstone account and is not a transferable promotional code.

Reign of the Black Empire release date

Hearthstone’s next expansion, Reign of the Black Empire, launches on 20 October 2026 with 135 collectible cards. Its theme returns to ancient Azeroth, when the Old Gods fought the Titan-forged armies.

The set introduces the Assemble keyword, which creates custom minions, and new Old God mechanics. The free pack from the Legendary Quest Chain can be held for the expansion launch, while several October event cards can be used early.

War of Old & New event rewards

The War of Old & New event runs from 6 October to 20 October. Completing event quests unlocks cards, Tavern Tickets and a cosmetic reward:

  • Two Arrival of the Old Gods cards in regular and Golden versions
  • Two Arrival of the Titans cards in regular and Golden versions
  • Two Dark Terraforming cards in regular and Golden versions
  • Two Tavern Tickets
  • Zek’voz Priest Hero Skin

The three card rewards are usable before Reign of the Black Empire officially launches. Players interested in building around the new set therefore have an incentive to start the event promptly on 6 October.

How the Black Market rewards work

The Black Market remains active until 13 October. Ranked Hearthstone games award a limited event currency called Bloodstones, which can be exchanged for packs and cosmetics.

However, Bloodstone earning ends when the final week begins on 6 October. From 6–13 October the market stays open for spending, and players can attempt to haggle with vendors for lower prices. Bloodstones do not carry over to a future Black Market, so unspent currency disappears when this event ends.

The current reward selection includes up to four Reign of the Black Empire packs, the Taelan Fordring Signature Legendary, Broxigar Demon Hunter Hero Skin and Card Back, Yogg-Ramen Mage Hero Skin, Champion Tyrande Priest Hero Skin and the Fireside Card Back. If an account already owns a listed item, Blizzard says that slot is replaced by Golden Standard Packs of equivalent value.

Weekly free Battle.net Shop gifts

From 15 September through 13 October, Blizzard is offering a free Escape from Violet Hold gift in the Battle.net Shop each week. A new gift becomes available every Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. PDT.

This reward requires visiting the Battle.net Shop and claiming the offer while it is available; simply playing Hearthstone may not automatically add it. Check the shop once per week and confirm that the gift has been attached to the intended Battle.net account.

Mr. Bigglesworth and the first free pull

Mr. Bigglesworth is featured in Darkmoon Faire Treasures until 13 October. Blizzard describes this as a random-pull reward system containing Pets, Mythic Skins, Signature cards, Hero Skins and other prizes.

The first pull is free, but that does not mean Mr. Bigglesworth is guaranteed. Later pulls require Runestones, and players should review the published pull rates and odds before spending. Owners of the pet can earn XP through gameplay actions such as damaging heroes, filling the board, playing Undead cards and completing Battlegrounds objectives, unlocking additional pet skins over time.

Free rewards versus paid bundles

The login Legendary, Legendary Quest Chain, event quest rewards, weekly shop gifts and initial Darkmoon Faire pull are the principal free opportunities described in Patch 36.6. Pre-purchase bundles, subsequent random pulls and some cosmetics require payment or Runestones.

Blizzard also offers several Reign of the Black Empire pre-purchase options. Buying both main pre-purchase bundles grants a random Golden Legendary and unlocks eligibility to purchase a further Sequence Bundle. These are purchases, not requirements for completing the new Legendary Quest Chain.

Best order for claiming everything

  1. Log in now and confirm that M.O.T.H.E.R. has been added.
  2. Start the Legendary Quest Chain and complete Ranked games before 20 October.
  3. Earn Bloodstones before earning closes on 6 October.
  4. Spend all Bloodstones by 13 October.
  5. Check the Battle.net Shop each Tuesday for the weekly free gift.
  6. Use the free Darkmoon Faire pull, remembering that its result is random.
  7. Complete War of Old & New quests from 6–20 October.

What CODSKINS players should know

These Hearthstone rewards are granted through login, account progression, the Battle.net Shop or in-game event systems. Blizzard has not announced transferable redemption codes for the new quest packs, M.O.T.H.E.R. card or War of Old & New rewards.

For other Blizzard promotions and codes, browse the CODSKINS World of Warcraft collection or the wider Other Games rewards collection. The live World of Warcraft Red Hot Portable Bakery code is a separate WoW promotion and does not unlock Hearthstone content.
